I recently wrote this to all of Pittsboro’s commissioners and mayor.

I hope that you will do the same. They need to hear from all of us.

Their e-addresses are below.

*The decisions that you make concerning what Chatham Park is allowed to do, or not do, are so critical to the experience the citizens of Chatham County will have for generations to come. This process must go slowly, and with an open and transparent review process.

We need you to carry out your land use plan recommendation, which commits the town to work with the developers of Chatham Park to develop an area plan with a public process and design charrette that builds on the Southwestern Shore Assessment.

Please bring in outside independent planning experts with experience evaluating similar large planned developments.

We are counting on you to do a stellar job of leadership to preserve what a fabulous community we have and respect the qualities that made us call this place home.

Change is inevitable, but it can be done smartly with recognition of the disastrous, long-term consequences if this proposed plan gets rushed through.

Thanks for listening,

Cathy Holt”

  1. I also sent an e-mail to all of those people. Apparently, they are not listening to those of us who oppose the massive proposed development. When developments, especially of this size, are proposed there is always MONEY. WHERE IS IT GOING?
