Chatham Habitat for Humanity has lost many people

From: Quite Concerned
Subject: Habitat Praise

Unfortunately it is Mr Brinson who is misinformed. Habitat has lost many people in the last few years, not just from construction but across all departments:

Out of a construction department of 2 full-time staff (not including Americorp), they have lost 3

Out of a Resource development department of 3, they have lost 3

They let a director of the Stores go stating that her position was no longer necessary yet they are hiring for the same position now 8 store managers have left or were let go

Subject: sorry to see

I have been volunteering with Chatham Habitat for Humanity since I retired several years ago and have enjoyed it very much. The organization serves an important role in the community and I have been proud to play a part. I was sorry to learn that Construction Manager Jack Heuer is leaving at the end of
the month, along with his assistants Megan and Pat. Gaby has already left. That means the whole construction department will be gone.

If you missed it you can see video clips I shot at the “Let’s Talk Trash” event on the Campus of Central Carolina Community College last weekend.

As it turns out many of the folks I talked to happen to also be Chatham Chatlist members. I truly enjoyed meeting and talking with you folks.

The Firing of Howard Alston

From: Ollie Waddell
Subject: The Firing of Howard Alston

The Firing of Howard Alston came as no surprise to me, or probably anyone else that was aware of his treatment from Habitat. Seems he was employed there for 6 or more years, was a favorite with customers, did his job and more. To be relegated to an obscure back room, sorting thru mounds of donated household goods was a dreadful demotion and almost an insult. It almost seems someone wanted him out of their way or wanted him to be less visible. But wait- it can’t be- we are talking about Habitat For Humanity- the do- gooders of Pittsboro? Again I say, Habitat- the Iron Fist in a Velvet Glove.

Habitat post clarification

Subject: Habitat post clarification

Chatlisters,

It has come to my attention that there is another Sarah Carr who also lives in this community.  I am not the Sarah Carr, bookseller, wife of Steve, etc.  I am a family law attorney in solo practice here in Orange/Chatham County. I live in Pittsboro and grew up in Hillsborough.  My last name, Carr, is my maiden name.

As such, my post about Habitat reflected my own opinions and should not be attributed to the other Sarah Carr.

One simple statement is all that matters…”illegal alien”

Subject: Habitat for Humanity profiling

Sarah,

I say well done to Mr. Williams for speaking up.  I don’t recall anyspecifications in his posting about “brown  skin”.   This one simple statement is all that matters…”illegal alien”.   Self explanatory.illegal. It doesn’t matter what nationality, color of skin, hair or eyes.  Illegal is illegal. They do NOT contribute in a good way to this community or country.

I’m quite sure the reference to Hispanic was simply because they do comprise the majority of illegal aliens in the country at this time and in this community.

Habitat’s Transitioned Blarney: The Power and Gory

REMEMBERING the FALLEN and THE MISSING IN ACTION: Recently, some of us faithful customers visiting Pittsboro’s Habitat Stores noticed many smiling faces were missing- only to find out that they had be Transitioned into other positions. “Called upon to step outside previous roles”- In a rambling, sugar coated, almost repulsive letter, Home Store Director, Suzanne Stevens attempted to “explain away” the transitioned “changes”-
