Subject: Chatham Coalition loser plans to run for County Commissioner
The Chatham Coalition candidate who ran and lost to Mike Cross in 2008 plans to run against Mike again in 2012.
Jeffrey Starkweather is a man that in 2008, the Independent Weekly said “we cannot support his candidacy. As the primary force behind the Chatham Coalition, Starkweather has become a lightning rod for divisiveness, engendering a political backlash to the coalition’s agenda. Additionally, his tendency to embrace complex processes over efficient outcomes and to browbeat those who don’t share his views detract from his potential to govern. With Chatham’s recent churn, what’s needed on the dais now are cool heads and the ability to compromise.”

Subject: Beasley discredits his entire argument with just one little phrase
You got to love people who think of themselves as being so clever and in one simple swoop brush away any such illusion.
This is definitely the case with Cliff Beasley’s quaint little post .
Cliff tries to make the point that he likes “having my county tax bill increase every year.”
However, I guess he just hasn’t realized that under the new county leadership there was no Chatham County tax increase this year.

Subject: Jeffrey Starkweather is fibbing once again
You can pretty much discount Jeffrey Starkweather’s last post about conservatives.
He throws away any level of authenticity and authority by making one simple statement – “I do not believe party and ideological labels are relevant”
This yellow-dog has pretty much never endorsed a Republican or a conservative for any public office in Chatham County, NC.
For Jeffrey it is ALL about party and ideological beliefs.

I just thought it very interesting that Mr. Starkweather took it upon himself to tell the conservatives on the current BOC exactly what they should be about as conservatives.
I have lived in Chatham County my entire life under BOCs filled with Democrats. The conservative Democrats of the Bunky/Emerson era sure took it on the chin from the liberal wing of the Democrats. They then gave us the “Coalition” BOC lead (in the wings) by Mr. Starkweather. I must not have been paying attention. I can remember the out of control spending and hiring and increased taxes sponsored by the “Coalition” BOC, but I don’t remember the surge in educational excellence or the increased employment opportunities that he seems to think they brought us.

Subject: Sally Kost asks supporters to bring pitchforks to BOC meeting
You can’t make this stuff up. Right there on Sally’s facebook page. In the most irresponsible act I have ever witnessed, Coalition Democrat Commissioner Sally Kost calls for her supporters to take up pitchforks at this Monday’s board of commissioners meeting
It appears that the Chatham Coalition is digging up all the usual suspects and is attempting to present the perspective of overwhelming opposition, when in reality they don’t represent much of anything constructive or concrete.

In chat list post number 4052, Mr. West asked, “When did CCEC become an environmental group?” He also declared, “CCEC has always been known as a liberal political action group.” As a member of the CCEC Board of Directors, I welcome the opportunity to respond to his question and comment.
Chatham Citizens for Effective Communities (CCEC) is an advocacy organization that monitors the actions of our county government and stays abreast of critical issues that impact the quality of life in Chatham County. We are proactive and speak out about issues that threaten the well being of Chatham citizens.

Subject: Chatlist post for Rita Spina
There is no question that for the BOCK-BOC there is no desire or appreciation of any public comments from Chatham’s citizens, whether they are from those who voted for the three new members or not. On
Monday, May 30th, there was a scheulded session on the Budget at CCCC after the first meeting on the School Budget. The 3 scheduled meetings that had been announced to deal with the Budget and to which
about 20 + citizens attended Wednesday morning at CCCC, ended as the elected officials later walked out of their announced meeting and its specific agenda for the day. At the same time the listed times for
further meetings on the Budget were cancelled as well. Those who arrived after the school budget passed, found no one present at all…not even a note that the meeting had been cancelled.

Dear CCDC,
The budget was presented and talked about at 2 county meetings, 2 town hall meetings,2 work sessions, posted online, and on Commissioner Bock’s website for all to see as the work was being done. People had plenty of time to review it.
They asked county departments to give input and come up with what works for them and they did. The commissioners even praised the cooperation and questions they had in budget sessions. They increased the school budget and kept social services all with no tax increases and took a pay cut. As for the library system it is either kill the bookmobile or close a branch.
