Subject: A few more important items about Jeffrey Starkweather
Dee Reid left a few items off of her press release about her husband Jeffrey Starkweather. I am sure that it was just an oversight. I am sure it was a mistake. After all, Starkweather claims he is all for transparency.
According to avvo.com, as an attorney Jeffrey Starkweather was disciplined by the North Carolina licensing authority and reprimanded in 2005.

The ousting of the “coalition” and everything it stood for is an indication that the Starkweather style of governing is unpopular. His shameless behavior in recent public forums tells me that he would be an embarrassment to Pittsboro.

Subject: Why was a county meeting turned over to a gas industry spokesperson to disparage the views of citizens
This is in response to David Morris’ account of how his boss, County Chair Brian Bock, turned a county commissioners’ meeting into a circus that allowed an out-of-state spokesperson to insult and disparage citizens for their legitimate environmental and safety concerns about the possibility of hydrofracturing for shale gas (“fracking”) in Chatham. (Morris happens to be manager of Brian Bock’s pizza parlor in Cary and he is not a registered voter in Chatham County.)

Subject: Starkweather Steals Opportunities for Citizen’s Voices to be Heard
Hello Chatlist,I am writing you today to comment on the subject of decorum and behavior at BOC meetings, and to bring to your attention something I believe to be important when you head to the polls in 2012. Monday’s meetings included an invitation to speakers from the Green Energy Council and the principal owner of a natural gas company that practices hydraulic fracturing. It is important to note that these gentleman were invited guests, no matter one’s opinion on the subject. I found the meeting to be informative and while many in the room were in opposition to the guest’s positions, they were respectful and informative when offering public input in opposition as well as respectful when the gentlemen gave their presentation. I want to thank both sides for offering information I did not know and adding facts for me to consider in my own mind.

Subject: Chatham hits 5th on pollution list under Chatham Coalition regime
The Chatham Coaltion Commissioners who preached about a green environment apparently failed miserably. Under the leadership of Tom Vanderbeck, George Lucier, Sally Kost and all, Chatham landed up being the 5th most pollted county in the state of North Carolina.
“According to data that industrial polluters must report to the Environmental Protection Agency in 2010, polluters released over 1 million pounds of toxic pollution into the air breathed by residents in each of twelve counties (listed in descending order by amount): Columbus (3,972,385 lbs.), New Hanover (3,056,955lbs.), Wayne (2,148,960 lbs.),

Subject: Chatham Coalition loser plans to run for County Commissioner
The Chatham Coalition candidate who ran and lost to Mike Cross in 2008 plans to run against Mike again in 2012.
Jeffrey Starkweather is a man that in 2008, the Independent Weekly said “we cannot support his candidacy. As the primary force behind the Chatham Coalition, Starkweather has become a lightning rod for divisiveness, engendering a political backlash to the coalition’s agenda. Additionally, his tendency to embrace complex processes over efficient outcomes and to browbeat those who don’t share his views detract from his potential to govern. With Chatham’s recent churn, what’s needed on the dais now are cool heads and the ability to compromise.”

Subject: Beasley discredits his entire argument with just one little phrase
You got to love people who think of themselves as being so clever and in one simple swoop brush away any such illusion.
This is definitely the case with Cliff Beasley’s quaint little post .
Cliff tries to make the point that he likes “having my county tax bill increase every year.”
However, I guess he just hasn’t realized that under the new county leadership there was no Chatham County tax increase this year.
