Saturday’s 9th Annual ClydeFEST was an absolute success in every definition of the word! Based on unofficial counts, the turnout hovered around 1000 children, parents, and grandparents who enjoyed the authentic, homemade, county fair whimsy of ClydeFEST. More importantly, the day made innumerable unforgettable happy memories for hundreds of citizens of Chatham County and beyond. There’s no better measure of success than that.

Subject: Chapel in the Pines Blessing of the Land
Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church, a new congregation now meeting at North Chatham School, is working with architects in Charlotte to determine what the church’s needs are currently and what they will be in the future.
“We are excited about ways that we might be able to serve the community through our land,” said the Rev. Mindy Douglas Adams, pastor. “We have been in conversation about a community garden, a walking trail, an outdoor amphitheater and a number of other ideas. We hope to begin to use the land long before the first construction begins.”

Great post! I always wondered what was going to happen to Tony and his family after the fadeout of the last episode of the Sopranos. Now I know, they are on their way to Chatham.
Wonder where they are going to live – Governors Club? Briar Chapel? Chapel Ridge? The Preserve?

Subject: overpopulation of deer and development around Chatham
“I would also like to start a discussion about the massive overpopulation of deer in this county and the ecological imbalance that this represents. I think we should really think about cutting the deer population in this county by as much as we possibly can. They are part of the life cycle of the ticks which are dominating our beautiful county.”

Subject: Woods School on Andrews Store Road
I think Woods School can certainly be an asset to the community, but does it have to be SO UGLY? The landscape has been mutilated, and the building is a glaring monstrosity. When I drive down Andrews Store Rd. at night, the multitude of bright lights and wasted energy is overwhelming. However, I guess it will fit in quite well with the upcoming “city of Briar’s Chapel,” which will complete the destruction of that beautiful forestland and peaceful country road. There’s no accounting for bad taste.
