Subject: Chatham County Seeks Applicants for Planning Board  Vacancy

PITTSBORO, NC-Chatham County invites residents interested in serving on the Chatham County Planning Board to submit an application to fill a vacancy no later than June 8, 2012.  The Planning Board advises the Chatham County Board of Commissioners on planning, zoning and subdivision issues.

The duties include: monitoring trends related to land use, proposing needed amendments to the land use plan; establishing development principles and guidelines; proposing ordinances for orderly development in accordance with the land use plan; determining whether proposed developments conform to the land use plan and development principles; keeping the Board of Commissioners and the public informed on planning issues and reasons for board recommendations; and conducting meetings to get public input.

The existing vacancy is a seat that expires on Dec. 31, 2012, but the appointee would be eligible for reappointment to serve two complete four year terms.   The vacancy is a seat designated for Commissioner District 1; however anyone residing within the county can apply to serve.

The Planning Board typically meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm, usually in one of the county facilities in Pittsboro.

Are you looking for a unique volunteer opportunity? Are you a talented event planner? The Chatham County Council on Aging is in need of special event/fundraising volunteers.

We are currently in need of volunteers to help with our annual fundraiser-Taste of Chatham. There are no specific qualifications except a passion for helping others as this fundraiser helps fund the Council’s programs and services for Chatham seniors. You can give as much or little of your time-it’s up to you!

We wanted to give a positive recommendation for Brown’s Carpet Cleaning in Siler City.  Tel 919 742 3416 or Pittsboro 542 5201.  

Jeff Brown did a wonderful job of our white carpet.   He even lifted up the furniture legs and put blocks under them so all the carpet got cleaned!   We can already tell a difference in the air quality with a lot less dust, plus everything looks spotless!  Jeff even cleaned the sofa. We highly recommend him and it was a very reasonable price as well.

Good Morning Chatham County Friends,

I am so appreciative that Dr. Dykers has taken the time to welcome me to the Chatlist and catch me up on Siler City a bit.

He and his wife, I now realize, were actually neighbors, and after thinking and thinking about it, I realized with his help that they were many of the good folks who I had the pleasure of knowing while I lived in Siler City.  I did speak with my family there yesterday and that helped a lot knowing where he lived and who he is.  A nice, kind man, a wonderful doctor and a good neighbor.  Thank you John for the wonderful welcome.  I look forward to hearing and learning how much the area has grown and perhaps making contact with some more old friends.

Hi,

I lived in Siler City for quite some time, my younger girls finished middle school and high school in Siler City.  I went through a divorce and moved the the western part of the state.  I came across the list somehow online and subscribed.  Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading most of the posts, I agree about the politics, there are enough of that in the media.  

But Siler City did not have a Farmer’s Market when I lived there, Pittsboro was just starting to come back from a lil sleepy town.  We come that way once or twice a year, I still have family in Siler City and friends as well.   Thank you for opening this us to everyone, even former folks from Chatham.  It’s nice to read things about home.
