Interesting discussion. In contrast – not defense! – to the below.
I live in Moncure, initially DSL was not available to us, and we used Earthlink satellite. Expensive, but it worked. DSL was extended to our area, and we switched – cable is unavailable, and according to how I interpret what the cable companies say if I had children, my grandchildren would be old before cable was available. Since moving to Moncure and getting phone service there (9 years ago), I’ve had numerous names on the company that provides service: Embarq, Centurylink…

Subject: My vote on the WWP pipeline
Like most decisions that the board of commissioners has to make, this one was not as straight forward as it might first appear. The decision to allow the Western Wake Partnerships to route the pipeline that will carry clean water from the New Hill treatment facility was made after careful consideration and deliberation. I realize many disagree with my vote. The answer for me came down to the fact that I believe this is best for the affected landowners and Chatham County as a whole. I further believe that this is compatible with two of my key goals as a commissioner; 1) Aggressively Protect property rights, and 2) Create an environment that will foster job growth in Chatham County. I’ll explain in detail below but first I would like to address the question of whether or not there were other possible routes for the pipeline.

Subject: The other side of the redistricting story?
Hello everyone,
Can someone point me towards an article or a website or something that would explain why the superintendent is so committed to the school redistricting plan?
Everyone on this listserv is entirely against it, as far as I can tell. The local news’s brief report on the school board meeting suggested everyone in Moncure, at least, is against it. The stated reasons I have heard on this list are budget savings, equalizing access to things like sports and special activities, and diversity (although I’ve never heard the diversity angle explained fully).

This is a perfect example of fear mongering and spreading false information. This email is so full of cr*p that it deserves no consideration. Sad, since the “ghost” and I are on the same side of the redistricting issue. Teacher morale (not moral) (although I think their morals are ok too) is very good in Chatham County.

The negative postings about Mr. Logan and the accusations need to stop!
If you wish to oppose the redistricting plan, please by all means do so, but please do so in a reasonable, intelligent manner. Hiding behind pseudonyms and allegations that border on hysteria are NOT helpful and will NOT persuade the BOE to see your side of things. When you make untrue and irrational arguments, people tend to disregard everything else you say too. What you need to do is get the REAL facts and present them logically and rationally. Proposing witch hunts and throwing Logan out of office because he proposed this plan is misguided and wrong, but most importantly, it does not focus on the issue at hand. If you want to solve the problem, focus on the ISSUE.
And sticking to the ISSUE means not bringing in other issues that are not relevant. For example, quit making threats about Pollard School.
