I have a few suggestions for Bruce:

First of all, the use of the word Nazi is offensive, but as I read you post, not surprising coming from someone of your demeanor. 

These “guards”, as you call them answer to someone other than you.  They have rules to follow from the people who employ them.  Your rude and insensitive name calling is uncalled for.  They are not county employees.  They work for a sub and are underpaid, in my opinion, work long hours, have no benefits and not many holiday, although some were added this year.

The gentlemen who assist me every week are friendly, helpful and knowledgable.  I go to the Cole Park recycle center at least once a week and I support all the guys who work there.

I really think you need to reassess your opinion of people who don’t live up to your standard, whatever that is.  Should these folks be college educated? Would that suit your needs? 

Bruce, you’re just plain rude and demeaning and my main suggestion would be to meditate on being a nicer person.  I did.

Subject: Road Signs

Maybe it’s not so much that people don’t agree with your point of view, but more an issue that road side signs are an eyesore.

Travelling down 15/501 from North Chatham to Pittsboro, we are assailed with signs for karate shops, pro and con political messages, houses for sale, Legend Oaks, Briar Chapel, those running for political offices and on and on.  Then when the mowers come through, the signs are swept into the blades and shredded, thus adding more garbage to the already littered highways.

I’m curious.  I assume we have a “right” to post signage on our own property, but do we also have “rights” to do so on public land?

Subject: Harris Teeter

Unfortunately, I spend way too much time at the Harris Teeter….maybe $2-3000/month.  I shop there for my work 4-5 times a week (yes, I need to be better organized OR lock the kitchen at work).

Harris Teeter is 20% higher on groceries than Lowes or Food Lion.  I have a charge account at HT so that’s why I have to go there. Lowes and FL don’t offer one.

For MY shopping, I would go anywhere but Harris Teeter,  too high and give little back the community.  I havent’ been in the new Lion but they are probably upgrading to attract the folks that have the extra 20% and are going to HT.

And the Pig is the Pig.  I shopped the Pig in Charleston 45 years ago with my grandma and it hasn’t change much.  They actually smell the same.  I get a grandma memory everytimeI walk in a Pig Wig.

Bottom line is if you’re looking at your bottom line, stay out of HT (except with coupons on double/triple coupon weeks)

Judge Allen Baddour was chosen for the first edition of this new feature. Judge Baddour is a resident Superior Court Judge for Orange and Chatham counties.  Prior to becoming a judge, Baddour served as an Assistant District Attorney for Orange and Chatham Counties.

For this particular photo-essay, Sam followed and photographed Judge Baddour during a typical week in his life. The shoots include the following: mock trial with Chatham County second graders, Hillsborough Orange County Court Session, time at home with family, teaching a continuing education course at the Friday Center, meeting with YMCA board member, and coaching his son’s little league basketball team.

I want to thank my friends and for all the kind people who shared their prayers and well wishes for me and family in the pasing of my Soul-mate and Loving Husband Roger Garvey who departed on 2/18/12 to be with our Lord.

It is sad to lose the Laughter and Love of such a marvelous man who made every person He met…SMILE.  He’s wacky ways and witty wisdoms will be cherished and truly missed.  In rememberance Roger’s joy and lighthearted humor could brighten everyone’s Darkest Days.  Devotedly He adored his children and grandchildren who were always in his heart.  A hardworking maintenace man at Performance Bike Company in Chapel Hill, N.C. and was known as “Mr. Fix It”. 

Although we are sad for the loss of Roger, the desire was not to despair in his demise and dedicate our efforts to fight for the sake of the children who’s life will be cut short and sadly casualities of cancer.  Currently we have joined with UNC Cancer Center to continue our campaign to fund-raise and find a cancer cure for the children in the future.

Unfortunately for wife Linda Douglas and Family who lost Roger Garvey, to his battle with lung cancer  Compassionately concerned He was Broken-Hearted to see all the children at UNC Hospital.  However Roger wanted to help and hence

He’s last wishes were to establish a Charity to Benefit the Pediatic Hematology Unit at UNC.  Contributions can to made on Roger’s Behalf and please put a note on Checks “In Memory of Roger Garvey” and appreciate all donations to this worthy cause.  Make Checks Payable To; UNC Compensive Cancer Center and Send To: UNC/Lineberger Office of External Affairs, Campus Box # 7295, Chapel Hill, 27599
