Ya’ll remember that the bowling alley is open again in Siler City on south side of US 64 just west of Best Food Cafeteria and Haley Bales etc. Across from Msrsh Auto Parts and just before the Highway Patrol Station. Subject: Northwood Mens V Soccer Update

Northwood lost a tough match in OT Wednesday night to Carrboro 3-2 in the 3rd round of the state 2A playoffs. It was a heart wrenching defeat as NHS had a 2-0 lead with 17 min. remaining in the match.

Carrboro scored at the 13 min. mark and then again with 90 sec. remaining to send the match to OT.

They ten scored in the first ten overtime to take the 3-2 lead. Both squads had scoring chances in the second OT, but could not convert. NHS scored at the 15 min. mark of the 1st half on a direct kick by Joey Suprick that nate Holst headed in for the score. Connor lawrence scored at the 55min. mark on an unassisted goal after a misplay by the keeper. Every Charger, to the man, gave a 110% effort, played with heart and emotion and fought to the end.

Carrboro moves on to host DSA, a 5-4 winner in OT Wednesday night, on Saturday night. Carrboro moves to 22-1-2, NHS ends their season 11-7-5.

Dear Residents of Chatham & Local Communities,

I am writing this to make sure that I relay how much appreciation and fun I and my partners have had serving this community over the past year.  We knew that it would be difficult to rebuild the patronage back to the bowling alleys after the previous owner, but were hopeful, not to mention the current economic conditions.  When we started the alleys we planned on using our extra capital to start a resturant in Sportsmans Lanes, however we found out once we restored power here that absolutely none of the lanes
equipment nor scoring systems work. 

We utilized our capitol to rebuild the system and planned on continuiing the resturant with revenues generated from the lanes.  Our mission at Sportsman Lanes was to provide a safe, fun, & inexpensive environment for the citizens of siler as well as the surrounding counties.  We believed that no family should have to spend a 1/3 to a 1/4 of their paycheck to spend one night of enjoyment with there family.  We kept our prices at 1984 pricing and pool tables at $.50 to allow young adults with limited cash to have enjoyment here rather then being roaming Walmart or troubled areas they should never be apart of. 

We worked with the philosophy that no who enters our establishment whether be it 5 years old or 85 years old recieves and most importantly gives the same amount of respect to each and everyone they interact with at the bowling alleys, regardless of age, gender, race.  It is a philosophy that we feel has created a wonderful environment for both us and the customers.  We were able to provide over 187 birthday parties, numerous youth groups, various school and daycares with enjoyment at the lanes.  One group that touched
us especially is the special education class and Jordan Mathew and the pure enjoyment that display when hitting one or ten pins, never worried about the score just the fun.

We have had an extremely difficult time this past summer and are regrettably falling behind.  I am not ready to give up, but wanted to inform those that have visited us  here how much we do appreciate you, and to all the young adults that came just to shoot a game or two and just hang out and share some time with us.  All of you are truley wonderful and my partners and I are blessed for have knowing each of you.  This is not a farewell statement.  I do want to make sure each of you know how much you are apprectiated.  However if things don’t pick up please know we have fought it to the end.  Please come by and join in the fun so we can
hopefully keep the house open.

Subject: Northwood Basketball clinic at Northwood November 19

There is a basketball clinic at Northwood on November 19 from 9AM-12PM for students in grades 3-8. It is a fund-raiser for the girls basketball team.

Cost is 20$ per player.

Coaches on staff will be conducting the clinic along with Jeff Denny former UNC player under Coach Dean Smith.

Subject: Northwood Mens Soccer defeats JM

Northwood survived regulation, two ten minute overtimes, two five minute sudden death overtimes and PK’s to defeat Jordan Matthews Wednesday night in the 1st round of the state 2A playoffs.

The Chargers scored at the 65 minute mark on a Connor Lawrence goal with an assist from Joey Suprick to
take a 1-0 lead. With 30 seconds remaining in the match JM scored to tie the match 1-1. Both teams traded numerous shots on goal throughout the two ten minute OT’s.

In the two five minute sudden deaths both teams once again had scoring chances only to be shut down by great goalie play. After 110 minutes of soccer the game was decided on PK’s. Chase Golden saved the first JM attempt (he had 12 saves in the net for the night), NHS missed it’s first shot, JM missed it’s second, NHS scored the next four, Austin Moody, Joey suprick, Clark Streets and Connor Lawrence converted.

Many Chargers played well, Jeff Forbes, Blake Svendsen, AJ Wyatt, Pedro Ramos, Max Middleton, Anthony Castro, Will Riggsbee, Nate Holst, Jerry Silvestri, Josh Alvord, Rafael Orellana were all on their game Wednesday.

Next match will be played Saturday TBD.

Subject: Northwood Mens V Soccer moved into a 3rd round match with Carrboro  Wednesday night

Northwood moved into a 3rd round match with Carrboro Wednesday night by defeating Franklinton HS in Franklinton Saturday evening 4-2.

Clark Streets scored off a Connor Lawrence assist 15 minutes into the match to take the 1-0 lead. Anthony Castro scored off the second Lawrence assist to push the lead to 2-0 right after halftime. FHS scored soon after to cut the lead to 2-1.

Max Middleton scored on a left footed shot into the corner to give NHS a 3-1 lead at the 60 minute mark, also another Lawrence assist. Connor then scored the last goal for the Chargers to give us the 4-1 lead. FHS scored on a PK for the final 4-2 score.

Carrboro defeated Cedar Ridge Saturday evening to move into the 3rd round match with NHS. Game will be at 6pm @Carrboro.

Subject: Northwood Mens V Soccer defeated Granville Central

Northwood defeated Granville Central Monday evening in Pittsboro 4-2.

Joey Suprick scored twice, Patrick Dufour and Connor Lawrence scored one each. Pedro Ramos had two assists, Anthony Castro and Joey Suprick had one each.

Daniel Burwell have five saves in the net. It was a night in which all the Chargers received equal playing time with Josh Alvord, Ethan Bourne, Aaric Artis and Rafael Orellana having excellent performances.

Next match is at Cedar Ridge Wednesday evening. Northwood stands at 7-4-4 on the season with two weeks remaining in the regular season and state playoffs beginning the first week of November.

Senior night will be held Monday Oct. 24th vs South Granville.

Subject: Northwood Mens V Soccer ties in double OT

The Chargers tied 1-1 in double Ot Friday night in Durham vs #9 ranked and 13-1-2 DSA. Northwood played a great match with a fantastic effort in the net by Chase Golden with nine saves. The defense led by Jeff Forbes was spot on all evening. Joey Suprick scored off a Clark Streets assists 65 minutes in. DSA scored with 8 minutes remaining in the match to send it to the first OT.

After 20 minutes of OT both teams were near exhaustion and cramping. Pedro Ramos was at the top of his game and gave us numerous scoring chances. NHS is home Monday at 6pm for senior night vs South Granville. If the Chargers secure two wins next week they will lock up the #4 playoff seed and be facing a 1st round rematch with Jordan Matthews in the state 2A playoffs.

The NHS JV ended their season with a 4-0 win at DSA Friday. They end up 10-1-1.
