Subject: The General Store Café will be re-opening in August
Pittsboro, NC – The General Store Café will be re-opening in August if one chef and business owner has his way.
The Pittsboro-based business has been sold to Greg Lewis, the general manager and owner of the Cary-based company Catering by Design.
Lewis plans to renovate the interior of the café, and to revamp the menu. He said quite a bit of the furniture has been sold, and he’s replacing most of the tables and chairs.

Subject: Sweet Oven Bakery
I just stopped by the Sweet Oven Bakery for the first time today and it was well worth the time. They have many tasty baked goods and a wonderful little store.Their scones were excellent (I had the apricot scone) as well as their brownies.
I’ll definitely take the time to stop by earlier during the day to check out more of their selection. I love bakeries and I am VERY glad that Pittsboro now has the Sweet Oven Bakery. I definitely recommend stopping by and picking up some baked goods for your friends and family!

Subject: Roost is Coming Out of Hibernation!
Roost re-opens for the 2012 season on Friday, April 13th with music from The Boys from Carolina!
Set in the middle of the Village Center in a landscaped courtyard, Roost offers a beautiful and tranquil place to share a drink and conversation, and often features live music on the front porch. So find a table under large oak trees or by the water fountain and enjoy a special time with friends and family! Roost also offers a selection of draft beers, wines by the glass selected by Fearrington sommelier Max Kast, bottled ales and water, and nibbles like salted Virginia peanuts.

Subject: Greek restaurants.
Pittsboro is so blessed to have TWO great Greek restaurants, with owners and staff who care about both their food and their customers.
I would, however, go for Angelina’s first – just a personal preference for the food and the gluten-free menu. However, I will admit the “ambiance” is a little better at the Kouzina (I love their wall sculpture, and the place is more welcoming for in-store eaters). Kathy Zinn

Wild Things and Wild Places a show of paintings in acrylic by Shannon Bueker at the Carolina Brewery in Pittsboro, NC.
Wild Things and Wild Places displays 15 works from the past two years, acrylic paintings that continue to describe Shannon’s love for nature’s wonders. All of the pieces have come from travels to the NC coast or sketches made right in Shannon’s backyard and neighborhood. “Everything starts in my sketchbook, from the barest gesture drawings to plans and note-taking on things I see but don’t have time to draw”.

Subject: speaking of good food…
while we are talking about Greek Food, Angelina’s next to the drive-through Suntrust on Old Rectory Street near the old library is wonderful. I love stopping in there after a busy day to get a big Greek Salad with all the trimmings & green chile beef stew. Angelina often tucks a home made desert in the bag “to try”.

Subject: Great food
Early this evening, my husband and I ate at the Greek Kouzina restaurant. The food there is wonderful. It is located where the Flamingo’s was, east of Pittsboro on 64 just past the Post Office.
My husband was especially thrilled because there are large screen televisions with NBA games on. I suspect that we will be watching some of the ACC and NCAA Tournament games there because he said that they are really nice televisions. I actually do not find the TVs annoying, either. They are well placed. But even if they annoyed me,

I don’t want to see Siler City lose another business if it can be helped. There are hopefully others out there who would be willing to put in some ‘elbow grease’ to help these folks. If their insurance covers everything, then good for them. If not, I’d be willing to help in any way possible. I know this isn’t an Amish barn raising, but it’s part of our community.
Anyone of like mind?
