Subject: Hunting issues…
We live on Eddie Perry Road off Russells Chapel and as usual when hunting season starts we have seen carcass dumps on our road. We hope getting word out will stop this as it is a residential area although wooded, and the one or two hunters who come here lease land from residents and are law abiding hunters.
This was obviously a head trophy as that was all the was missing.

Subject: Kiwanis Park
Wow Kudos to Paul Horne and the town of Pittsboro. I often stroll around town with my Mom in her wheelchair, we strolled up to Kiwanis Park over the weekend and what a treat!
A group of parents, Chatham Partnership for Children and the Town of Pittsboro (with lots of sponsors) spearheaded the park 7 years ago. What a difference now, the natural wood elements, shade, beautiful plantings. This is now a must see stop for friends and relatives when folks come to town. A pleasure for young and old.

Subject: Good things going on here in Chatham
There’s often a lot of negative talk about our local surroundings, but today I’d like to discuss some “good things” that may get overlooked with all of the daily bickering & chatter.
I’ve had the opportunity of working with several local businesses during my time at the library. I have to say that I’m most impressed with the businesses in this community and their support for our local establishments and organizations.

Subject: facility usage
I attended the BOE meeting last night and stated my case concerning gym usage for sports teams. The BOE was very receptive to my concerns and added a clause to the facility rental agreement. Essentially, any usage that supports the students of Chatham County Schools (such as travel basketball, rec sports, Chatham Soccer League, etc.) will be accomodated as a “special request.” When completing the rental agreement, users must note this on the form. Fees can be discounted or even waived by the superintendent if it is deemed necessary. Thanks to Kathie Russell for speaking up on my behalf and to the rest of the Board as well as Mr. Logan for addressing this issue.

Subject: digital tv
Stephanie,
In response to Chatlist #3445 regarding digital tv conversion. My husband made his own antenna for about $5 that he put in our attic and it is working wonderfully with our LCD HDTV and older tv with the converter box. We cancelled our satellite service and are saving so much it was well worth purchasing a digital dtvpal dvr at http://www.dtvpal.com so we can record our shows. The kids miss some Disney shows, but there are a ton of great shows on UNC/PBS. I miss the food network and my husband doesn’t get his fill of HGTV, but WUNC has a lot of great things to fill the void. We get CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, a few other channels too. Your reception will depend on how many obstructions are in the way (trees) and how low or high your house is positioned.
