Scrabble, anyone?

Subject: Scrabble, anyone?

Are there other Chatham Chatters who like to play Scrabble?  When I worked in Namibia, some Scrabble loving expats would gather at the Cameroonian restaurant in town for long, lively games after dinner. Is anyone interested in a Scrabble night, maybe at the General Cafe if they’re amenable?

Table tennis paddles and balls atop table tennis table, elevated view

We’re a lose group of Chatham County residents who get together once a week to play a variety of games at the Chatham Mills.  We have 2 ping pong tables, a foosball table, board games, cards, and we’re open for most anything.  We’re located at the mill in the conference room (go to the website for more directions) and we get together every Tuesday night from 5:30 – 8:30pm.  If we get enough members, we may be able to expand the time to another day as well.  Right now we have a good bridge contingent, a budding board games group, and a solid table tennis crew with some very good players.

With prom season upon the schools, it seems like this is the time to start collecting for next year

Prom couple

As my daughter readies herself for her first prom, it is brought to my attention again that many girls want to go to the prom, but lack the resources to buy the dress, shoes, purse, etc.  Is there any philanthropic group in the area that collects dresses to donate to girls?  I would be happy to donate to this effort or start such a project with  another person or group.  We would need someplace to store the clothes until the following year..and make sure that they are clean when put into storage.

Seagulls on Jordan Lake feed on the Threadfin Shad

From: JOHNSMD
Subject: Seagulls on Jordan Lake

Freezing Temperatures Continue To Grip The Country

At least one reason the gulls come is to feed on the Threadfin Shad. These little fish can’t survive cold water, and can be seen just below the surface, obviously in trouble, or already dead. The gulls don’t have to work very hard to have a feast. The water temperature has been very low for quite a while this winter, and business must be good. A look at Wikepedia will fill you in on these fish.
