The “truth” about the Pittsboro General Store Cafe

From: Mike Fox
Subject: The “truth” about the General Store Cafe

My wife and I have been to the General Store on many occasions.  The objective fact of the matter is that they are extremely inconsistent.  You can have an awesome dining experience on one visit, and then a terrible one on the next visit and then an awesome experience on the following visit again. There is no pattern that I can discern, and  I think this partially accounts for why you see such divergent opinions and reviews.

From: Brad Johnson
Subject: Brian Bock filed to run for Chatham County Commissioner Monday 2/8/10

Brian Bock has launched his bid to unseat George Lucier in District 3. On Monday, February 8, 2010 Bock filed his Notice of Candidacy at the Chatham County Board of Elections.

Bock decided to run for County Commissioner “because the actions and proposals of the current county leadership are raising our taxes, trampling on our property rights, and spending our tax dollars on unnecessary pet projects in a time of severe recession. The current and proposed policies create an environment that is hostile to job creation and retention. They are policies that will scare off, rather than attract new businesses to Chatham County.”

Whiners and winners: Recession brings Chatham golden choices

From: Wallace Kaufman
Subject: Whiners and winners: Recession brings Chatham golden choices

A recent article in The Independent about thousands of acres of failed, stagnant or bankrupt development obscures several golden opportunities by the writer’s choice to whine about the past rather than think about the future.

The Independent writer quotes Chatham County Commissioner Sally Kost, “who worked for more than 20 years as a government budget professional” as saying,  “Chatham County is not in this subdivision business. Eventually, someone will buy them.  I know there are many Chatham citizens that wish we would buy Westfall but our real dilemma is that of ensuring the county’s infrastructure keeps up with its growth.”
