A young man came to my home yesterday while my oldest son was home alone.  My son didn’t go to the door but he did manage to get the make and color of the car.

Fight at Jordan-Matthews High School

May 23rd, 2011 · No Comments

From: Daniel & Rhonda Sundberg
Subject: Jordan Mathews fight

I don’t if many people were aware that there was a big fight at JM Thursday 5-19-11 that involved about 10-12 people and resulted in one kid going home on crutches. That is not the part I am worried about though. The part I am worried about is the additional ARMED 4-6 people outside JM who wanted to join the fight along ethnic lines.

These additional people were not students. The fight was along minority racial lines and I think therefore is especially incendiary. I am very worried that if this thing happens again that someone will try to stop it and get very hurt. I am writing this to get parents to demand law enforcement keep an eye on things and especially the school grounds to keep armed people away from the school.

Thefts from cars in Asbury community

April 28th, 2011 · No Comments

From: deborah bair
Subject: Please post

We wanted to get the word out to the local community that our son’s truck was gone thru while parked outside our gate Sunday night in the Asbury community.

Not enough was taken to warrant any action (change taken, backpack was gone thru, etc), but I do want my neighbors to know that these people are still “cruising” and helping themselves.  We are on Lydia Perry Rd, and I know a lot of us read the chatlist, so wanted everyone to be aware.

My desire is for Western Wake Partners and the Chatham County Commissioners to respect the law

February 11th, 2011 · 1 Comment

From: Patrick Barnes
Subject: An Open Letter to Chatham County

I’ve been asked by Sam Cherry to post this to the chatlist. I am also providing the link to my youtube site, Chatham Citizen First.

Sam is in clip 8, then again in clip 10, addressing Tim Bailey, the Engineering Director for the Town of Cary.
It was a two hour hearing, but well worth the time to watch, if you are so inclined.
Please forward this post to anyone, any group, or any publication, if you feel it may help Chatham County.
The vote on this matter was set for Feb. 21st, just yesterday, on the final day of the BOC’s retreat.
Thank you.
Patrick H. Barnes, IV

Opposing particular law enforcement activities doesn’t mean you support law-breaking

I’m a little hesitant to wade in on the issue because opinion in this area is so divided, but I don’t believe the prior board’s passage of a non-binding resolution opposing 287(g) should be characterized as encouraging illegal behavior.

Immigration law is enforced by federal authorities (ICE). 287(g) encourages local authorities to spend their money, time and effort enforcing federal laws that otherwise would never be their responsibility. There are a number of reasons why that might not be a good idea – first, it uses limited local resources; second, there’s
already evidence that 287(g) programs don’t work very well in practice. See:
