As an owner of commercial real estate I wish to add my voice to those supporting the HRCA. Actually, on second thought, I will change positions from merely supporting to openly begging the Board to approve the school. Pittsboro is in dire condition and anything that will bring folks here is a great idea.

Subject: sad for Pittsboro General Store

It is sad to see the demise of the current General Store and I can only hope it will come back in another incarnation soon–it has been a store at a different location, a grocery/eatery over the years, and this restaurant under different owners–so we can hope the front at least could come back in business somehow.

I have fond memories of drinking coffee in the window watching autumn leaves and people passing, have had several birthday lunches, enjoyed music, story telling, films before they moved to Faerrington, burrito bashes and even luncheon dates to grade school work there! I’ve enjoyed their beet salad, chicken salad and a host of soups and sandwiches. Trilogy’s Christmas singalong has been an annual favorite there.

It has been the hub of the downtown community and I do hope it isn’t really gone for good!

My husband and I just visited the Small Street Cafe this morning for breakfast.   We couldn’t be more pleased.    The cafe is homey and inviting, Lisa and Dave are friendly and most importantly — the food is wonderful.   Stop by and see the wonderful new addition to Pittsboro and wish them well.   We are glad we did!   Welcome to Pittsboro and much success.

Let us not forget our wonderful “Pittsboro Toys’,  just off the court circle on 89 Hillsboro St.  Samantha sells handmade wooden toys (I think from Grandpa’s Workshop), as well as many other wonderful items.  A thought for Christmas:  A lot of local organizations have “Toys for Tots” boxes out.  How about buying a toy locally from Pittsboro Toys, as then dropping it in a local T for T box?

Hi all,

On Saturday November 19, Pittsboro Toys will be hosting a shrinky dinks making workshop!

Local teacher and artist Louise Kessel will be helping kids make their very own shirinky dinks based on wherever their imagination leads them. We will be baking them right in the shop, and if last year is
any guide, we will be having a LOT of fun. (I know I still cherish the shrinky dink necklace made by my 37 year old self.) Louise is magical at enabling creativity and self-expression, no matter how old or young you are.

Subject: Free Christmas Eve Dinner

We are gearing up for our 5th Annual Free Christmas Eve Dinner, Saturday, December 24th, serving from 4:30-6:30 or until the food runs out.

Over the past 4 years we have fed a total of almost 800 people on Christmas Eve.  If you would like to volunteer to help cook, decorate, serve, clean-up or deliver give me a call or e-mail me.  

It has come into my heart to offer delivery services to Chatham County residents who are homebound and cannot get out.  If you would like a meal, e-mail or call me with your name, address, phone number and I’m certain we can get you a wonderful meal delivered to your door.

Al’s Diner and the Subway by Food Lion are two of the local businesses who have jumped on board to help with this event.  Any other businesses or community members who would like to donate food or services just give me a call.

New Salem Baptist Church and Chatham Community Church will be donating time and energy to this event as well.  Chatham Community Church will be holding their Christmas Eve service again this year at the General Store Cafe at 7:00 p.m.   Sounds like a perfect night out: Food, Fellowship and Worship.  Sounds like a wonderful plan for Christmas Eve.

Come in and enjoy the General Store Cafe’s scrumptious Sunday Brunch, then return to enjoy the Chatham Area Shag Association (CASA) monthly, third Sunday social from 6:00 to 9:30 pm. This month’s DJ will be Jerry Burrage, Hall of Fame shagger and head DJ at the Pavilion in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Just want folks to know that Dr. Sidharth Bansal is such a great dentist that I have to “shout it out.” I am very sensitive to whats going on in the dentist office that I would always close my eyes. Dr. Bansal has a travel video going while I’m in the chair but as soon as I see him coming I would close my eyes. He said to me that If I would open my

eyes, I would be more relaxed. Well, I tried it and it worked. In addition, his dental work has left me with a beautiful smile and his integrity about his work really helps me to relax. I look forward to seeing him again.

BTW he is located behind Mcdonalds at 120 Lowes Drive.

Hi all,

On Friday November 11 at 10:30 a.m., Pittsboro Toys will be a hosting a special kids event led by the Grand Trees of Chatham. We will start with a storytime, then go on a fun and educational tour of our downtown Pittsboro trees, and then dive into a kids craft.

We’re super excited for kids to learn something about the trees they see all the time. (I wanna know more myself. Yay learning!) Grand Trees of Chatham always puts on fabulous events so don’t miss it if you and your young beloved(s) can make it.
