I just stopped by the Sweet Oven Bakery for the first time today and it was well worth the time. They have many tasty baked goods and a wonderful little store.Their scones were excellent (I had the apricot scone) as well as their brownies.
I’ll definitely take the time to stop by earlier during the day to check out more of their selection. I love bakeries and I am VERY glad that Pittsboro now has the Sweet Oven Bakery. I definitely recommend stopping by and picking up some baked goods for your friends and family!

Hello Chatham Chatlisters,
I had to share my wonderful experience at the new Bakery in downtown Pittsboro. After seeing the bakery during a recent trip into town, I had to stop!
The bakery items are fresh and delicious! In fact, as I was in the bakery purchasing some fresh Apricot scones and chocolate/raspberry cupcakes, the owner was preparing some fresh strawberry cupcakes made from locally grown strawberries. The coffee is delicious and all of the items are reasonably priced. I think it is a great stop for those who like to stroll downtown and a definite place to target when you are ready for a loaf of fresh bread.

On my commute from my Chatham county home and my Wake County job, I pass by a Super Target, a Lowes, a Food Lion, a Kroger, and a Fresh Market. Within 6 miles of home in different directions are ‘the Food Lion’, the Pig, Harris Teeter, Chatham Marketplace and another Lowes. Plenty of choices where to shop. I’d say that 80% of my grocery budget goes to Kroger, 15% to Food Lion, and 5% to the Pig. All have their issues.

Subject: Roost is Coming Out of Hibernation!
Roost re-opens for the 2012 season on Friday, April 13th with music from The Boys from Carolina!
Set in the middle of the Village Center in a landscaped courtyard, Roost offers a beautiful and tranquil place to share a drink and conversation, and often features live music on the front porch. So find a table under large oak trees or by the water fountain and enjoy a special time with friends and family! Roost also offers a selection of draft beers, wines by the glass selected by Fearrington sommelier Max Kast, bottled ales and water, and nibbles like salted Virginia peanuts.

Betty -
Seriously?
More products than “YOU” want or need? - Sounds self-centered.
Wine aisle compared to night club? - Don’t drink? Skip that aisle then.
Makes the check-out clerks work harder? How is that when they have nothing people want or need? Might as well take the wine aisle out since no one in Pittsboro/surrounding areas drink it.
Prime time at 10:30? Compared to 4-6PM?
Respect your shopping needs?? A one person grocery store!! Let me know how well that works for you.

Lordy – I take a few days off from reading the chat list (yes, some of us have other things to do on occasion) and come back to find Food Lion compared to a combo goumet kitchen / night club. How Hilarious!!!!

Pittsboro is so blessed to have TWO great Greek restaurants, with owners and staff who care about both their food and their customers.
I would, however, go for Angelina’s first – just a personal preference for the food and the gluten-free menu. However, I will admit the “ambiance” is a little better at the Kouzina (I love their wall sculpture, and the place is more welcoming for in-store eaters). Kathy Zinn

Beth Hayes = Amen. We have switched to the PIG for all our shopping.
The long lines and new cash register counters at Food Lion is a JOKE! Plus I can not find most anything I need in the store……The Meat counter is a maze…..I can not read the prices or see the cuts of meats on the layered look shelving. I went after 2 things (squash and onions) yesterday and it took me 47 minutes to get in and out = no stopping to chat with neighbors etc…..

Comparing Food Lion to Harris Teeter???? There is no comparison. Harris Teeter is a much better store overall providing fresher produce, beautiful meats as well as butcher counter and offers fivefold more gourmet food items throughout the store than Food Lion.
Food Lion is a basic store for those who only want the basics and that is good for many people including myself but when you want more of a variety, Harris Teeter wins hands down. So to compare the two stores is like. .. comparing apples with oranges. ;-D Both stores offer different pros and cons to different people.
