South American Folklore Concert at Mina Bean’a Cafe

Subject: South American Folklore Concert at Mina Bean’a Cafe-Siler City- Friday, Nov. 21st.

MIna Bean’a Cafe at 222 E. Raleigh St. in Siler City, will host a free concert, at 8:00 p.m. co-sponsored by The Hispanic Liaison, on Nov. 21st, the evening of this month’s Third Friday Art Walk.

“El Viento Canta” is a South American Folklore Group which performs traditional songs as well as original music.

We will serve dinner from 5:00 - 8:30.

Mina Bean’a has extended its hours:  Mon. 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.;

The lighting of the luminaries at Fearrington

Pittsboro - On Friday, December 19th from 6pm-8pm, celebrate the season with the Lighting of the Luminaries along the winding paths of the Village Center.  Fearrington will be decked out with holiday decorations, The Bluegrass Experience will be playing your favorite holiday songs and the Village shops will stay open late.

The event benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill. Donations will be accepted during the event.

Siler City’s 3rd Friday Artwalk in November

Featured at the NC Arts Incubator Gallery in November is local weaver Jean Vollrath of Hickory Mountain Weavers with a beautiful collection of hand-woven clothing. Author Sue Seamon will be signing copies of her book “Letters to Lucky” during the 3rd Friday Artwalk on November 21st.

The”Totally Teapots” show was also a great success and will still be open during the Artwalk . Musical entertainment in the courtyard will be provided by “Bluesville” . Farmers Market vendors with baked goods will be at The Other Person Gallery & Gifts, and Horizon Cellars will be having a wine tasting at Against His Will Gallery. “The Body” , a new “body” of work by Roger Person is at Person to Person Art .

Join us Saturday, November 22nd for a Bynum Front Porch House Concert featuring the musical stylings of Breadfoot (folk, acoustic, bluegrass), Electric Bird Noise (progressive, electro, experimental) and Horseback
(psychedelic, electroacoustic, experimental).  That’s three bands over the course of two hours for just $5 at the door.  The Bynum General Store is located at 950 Bynum Road.  Doors open at 6:30 pm with the show starting at 7:00 pm.

Roger Person will never forget the day in 1990, when he was standing on a ladder cutting a limb from a large tree. The branch released, knocking him from the ladder resulting in a crippling spinal cord injury. In that instant, this physically active engineer and adventurer was fated to life in a wheel chair. Pumpkins on Bynum’s Pedestrian Bridge Halloween Eve.
Soon it will be time for the pumpkins to be bought so that Jan Berger and crew can do their magic carving and then set the pumpkins on the Bynum bridge for all to come and admire over the waters of the Haw. Jan would like to ask….if anyone knows where pumpkins can be purchased for $3 or less, please call him.  This is a volunteer Chatham community event.  He’s hoping to purchase around 60+ pumpkins for a low low cost.
