May be the best place to see if you can help out with keeping local folks warm and/or looked after is your local churches.
They work with DSS to identify folks in need in their respective community.
They usually have a person or persons to connect with and coordinate such help.
This help is available year-round in most communities.
Any church you approach may help you help others. Who knows, you may even want to come back on Sundays…
