The Winter Reading Program, sponsored by the Friends of the Chatham Community Library, is open to children ages 2 and up. Readers participate by picking up a reading BINGO sheet at their local library branch and completing a 5-in-a-row BINGO to earn a cool winter prize. All readers who complete at least one BINGO will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Gift Certificate to a local or online bookseller.

The Winter Reading Program kicks off at the Chatham Community Library on December 2, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with a performance by Jeghetto<http://www.jeghetto.com/>. Jeghetto (Tarish Pipkins) will be performing with his son Tarin for this Fall/Winter show.  The father and son duo will be performing famous tales as well as stories written by the puppeteers themselves. The stories will be reenacted with puppets made of recycled materials. This is a family friendly show for children of ALL ages! For information about the Winter Reading Program, as well as related events at each Chatham County Public Libraries branch during the month of December, contact Katy Henderson at (919) 545-8085 or katy.henderson@chathamlibraries.org .

3:30pm                      Spanish Book Club – Our book club ‘Tertulia Compaginar’ reads titles originally written in Spanish. We do not read translations into Spanish from any language. We read both fiction and non-fiction books. The majority of our members are originally English native speakers, with the added benefit of a few native Spanish speakers from different countries in Latin America. Our sessions are a bi-monthly 1-1/2 hour immersion into both the Spanish language and its cultures. All interested persons are welcome to apply. People are welcome to RSVP to audit.
This month we will start reading  El Murmullo de las Abejas by Sofia Segovia.
If you are interested in participating you can contact Luis Melodelgado at luis.melodelgado@chathamlibraries.org  or call the Circulation desk at 919-545-8084.
