Goldston is currently considering annexation of over 800 acres on critical and protected watershed near the Deep River on Alton King Road. The developer is asking for R15 zoning from Goldston at the same time as annexation. R15 allows homes on lots of 15,000 Sq ft. This is same road that closes frequently for flooding. There is also an active state clay mining permit ( unreclaimed mining property) still in name of the previous owner of 318.5 of the acres, Meridian Brick. Considering annexation and rezoning of properties with these issues for high density housing development doesn't seem smart or healthy for the future residents.
