Jordan Lake 12-Hour Challenge
Partnership for Children hosts 3rd annual ultramarathon event
The third annual Jordan Lake 12-Hour Challenge will be held on April 22, 2017, with a new venue and a faster course. This year, the course will be certified by USA Track & Field for the first time. Athletes will compete to see how much distance they can cover in 12 or 6 hours. The new venue will be the Jordan Lake Educational State Forest on Big Woods Road in Chapel Hill.
In addition to individual 12-hour and 6-hour competitions, there will be a 12-hour team competition. Teams of three will take turns in any order they want, to add up miles for a total team distance.
The new course will be a 1.35-mile loop on old road bed and trail.  Runners will repeat the loop as many times as they can, passing by a lap counting station and aid station each time. There will be a special award category for the Chatham County resident that covers the greatest distance in each race.
Proceeds from the race will benefit Chatham County Partnership for Children, which promotes opportunities for all young children to grow up safe, healthy and able to succeed.
