Hey Bear! So glad “Republic Wireless” is working out well for you. Sounds like I missed out on a better option when I reworked my contract with Verizon.
Don’t want you to miss out on this Spring’s great steak dinner and open bar Sat May 6th at the Moose Lodge at 6 PM. Rotary is only selling 325 tickets for $100 each and raffling off $15,000 with $5000 spread over the evening with a $10,000 grand prize for the last ticket drawn. $25 extra brings a guest for the dinner and party. Rotary does all the work and all the money raised goes to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, (currently serving 350 kids after school with that many on the waiting list and needing to renovate the other side of the building behing Braxton Manor by the soccer field) and our Rotary Scholarship Program for which alllll your children in Chatham County School are eligible to make application, and should! We have a wonderful group of young people that are helped every year thanks to you who come have a great fellowship and win money and all the overhead is provided by busy Rotarians. Come be my guest for lunch at noon at Chatham Western Senior Center.

Would love for you to come again, and all the Chatlisters. If you can’t partake the great party, I will hold your ticket for you to win the $. LOTS better odds than Powerball! And sponsored by a Rotary that has raised over $2million with impeccable integrity over a century and put a hospital into the community before WW II and just Monday distributed funds from Fall Bazaar to United Way, Habitat for Humanity, CORA and West Chatham Food Pantry, Chatham Cares Community Pharmacy, Chatham Literacy Council, Community in Schools, iCTE, Career and Technical Education, including JM High School, Chatham 4-H, the Boys and Girls Clubs, and Chatham Hospital for a swallowing test equipment.  Elizabeth Zeringue just helped me remember the proper names I had forgotten!

BTW, I did Death Reviews for 35 years at Chatham Hospital and one year also volunteered to do the same at the nursing home; lots of different diseases were listed on death certificates, but looking at the records, at least 50% of our deaths are directly related to swallowing/aspiration problems no matter the underlying cause. Sooooooooooo come enjoy the steak and party but don’t talk with food in your mouth! Talking opens up the glottis and that is when we choke!

If you don’t catch up with one of us Rotarians in person soon, mail your check made to Siler City Rotary Club to me, John R. Dykers, Jr. MD, PO Box 565, Siler City, NC 27344 and be sure to include your phone number where I can reach you with your prize money or an address to which I can mail you your tickets to the party. Or email me at  and we’ll make other arrangements to suit your circumstances. Sold a bunch the first week, so I will post on Chatlist when all 325 are gone. Great uses for the proceeds and lots of fun being helpful.
