Skunks are very active in in the night and pre-dawn hours February selecting territories and partners.

Pets can get curious, and get sprayed, and cars and areas around the home can get the odor too.

This recipe works generally so well one washing is all it takes. Mix in bucket:
..         One pound box Arm and Hammer baking soda
..         One 16 oz container Bar Keep polish powder
..         4 table spoons Dawn liquid dish soap
..         32 ounces hydrogen peroxide ( unopened )

Tip: For dogs, hook garden hose to water heater drain and wash pup outside in warm water

Mix up items, solution will get “foamy”

Use cup to pour over dogs body, tail, legs, paws, tummy. Rub in and work in for 3 minutes, adding more solution often.

For pets Head: KEEP OUT OF EYES , as best yet do apply to jowls, ear flaps ( not inside ) muzzle an chin, and top of scalp. And finally a ribbon of solution from scalp to nose.

Warm  ( or cold ) water rinse well, it takes 5 minutes to get soap out of fur.

Let puppy rest and smell for hot spots top re treat with solution.

Note: if face was direct hit, eyes and nose will have taken the skunk smell in inner eye lids and nose pours.

Just rinse these areas well and or use tearless baby soap. Alas, the smell will be noticeable from eyes for some time ( weeks )

Finish with some of your hair conditioner and let these oils soak in a bit, then final rinse and dry dog.

Tip: Use extra solution to decontaminate any clothes or walls or floors the dog brushed up against.

Been there, done that. ( ONCE J )
