Subject: Strobilus presents an afternoon of French songs on February 19

At 3:00 on Sunday afternoon, February 19, Drs. Lucy Hoyt, soprano, and Deborah Hollis, pianist, present “Les Chemins de l’amour” kicking off the Strobilus Spring 2017 season at Cahapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church. Their long-standing partnership brings Hoyt and Hollis to the Strobilus Music Series to present a snapshot of French mélodie.   Composers include Poldowski, Duparc, Hahn, Szulc, Ferre, and Poulenc, all of whom adopted both France and the French culture as their own.  In this collection of songs, we are invited to ponder the meaning of life, witness sobbing declarations of love, learn the historical significance of French poetry during WWII, contemplate French painting styles, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.  Hoyt and Hollis are joined by violinist Matvey Lapin and violist Petra Berenyi in arrangements of the works by Ferre.

Located at 314 Great Ridge Parkway in southern Chapel Hill, the Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church welcomes everyone, and the facility is fully ADA accessible.
