Actually, none of the Propane companies seem to have your best interest at heart. No one governs them and they do as they please.

From early 70’s to 2002, I dealt with Green’s Fuel in Sanford. They installed a tank- no rental, but their tank. Dear God, stupid me didn’t realize they were putting in a 100 gallon tank-  Most regular households have a 50 gallon tank. Their tank- I was beholden to them. If I stopped using their service, they take tank, I am faced with replacing. Now days, every company charges you tank rental.

In 2002 I bought the used tank from them- Just to get rid of them without complications. set me back $750.00. I then tried a new company. That lasted about 3 years and then i switched to Cooper LP Gas. They delivered about 4 times per year, starting in Oct.

I never paid more than $2.50 per gallon and it was even cheaper the first couple of deliveries.

This year, probably in Oct. a Chatlister wrote about the fabulous ‘deal’ he got from Cooper. $1.50 per gallon to fill up his tank. This person was only a mile and half from me, on the same road.

I called Cooper and wanted the same deal. I was told that since I was an established customer, they couldn’t give me the same low price.

No deliveries from them until my tank was somewhat low. Two days before Christmas, they delivered and filled my tank. $2.98 per gallon. A bill of over $750.00.

I had always paid my bill by sending them a form, with credit card information. Now, the new bill does not offer that option. Pay on line, or figure out another way to pay. No way to pay by check.

A big Thumbs down to Cooper LP Gas –

By the way, I too think burying a gas tank of any kind in the ground is a dreadful idea. You are asking for trouble- or trouble for the next person living on that land. It should be outlawed.
