Welcome to 2016 from the Chatham County Republican Party

We hope that you have healthy and wonderful 2016. We thought it would be helpful to share some important dates and information with you as we head into the most critical election in many years.

Here are some things people have been emailing and asking the Chatham County GOP:

1) How Can I Be a Delegate to the National Convention in Cleveland?

The path to attend the GOP National Convention in Cleveland next June–possibly the most important Republican gathering in the last 20 years– starts in your local precinct. It is a multi-step process, and one in which you will meet hundreds of conservative North Carolinians, learn about issues facing our county and state, and play an active role in making our government more responsive, transparent, and focused.

You must register to attend the Chatham County Combined Precinct and County Convention Meeting on March 5th, 2016 at the Horton Middle School in Pittsboro: http://www.chathamncgop.com/county_convention . To be a delegate, you must be a registered Republican, and register for the Combined Precinct Meeting. You can attend the convention as a guest, but you cannot be a delegate if you are not a registered Republican per our party rules. (If you are not yet a registered Republican, the last date you can register to be a Republican and be eligible is January 31st).

The convention is scheduled just 10 days prior to North Carolina’s Presidential and Gubernatorial Primary, this exciting Convention will give you the opportunity to meet many candidates who will help shape our future — up close and personal. There is a small fee ($10.00) to attend the convention, which offsets our expenses.

Attend the appropriate Congressional District meeting for your area. Chatham County includes two Congressional Districts: The 2nd & 4th.

Information about dates and times of these meetings is forthcoming, and all will be held in April, in anticipation of the statewide Convention.

Finally, the North Carolina Republican Party is planning a dynamic State Convention that will be May 5th thru 8th in Greensboro. It is here that final delegate selection is determined for the National Party. North Carolina will have a total of 72 delegates and you might be one of them!

Next step: on to Cleveland!

2) How can I get involved with Chatham County GOP in 2016?

That’s easy – just click: http://www.chathamncgop.com/volunteer or even just reply to this email and let us know how you want to help! With the Presidential, Congressional, Council of State, General Assembly, County Commissioner and other races in 2016, and our many events, there is something to do for everyone, and we need your help!

Our organization is tooling up for the big year and we need help in YOUR neighborhood – precinct chairs, block captains, etc. This is a great way to get involved at the most local (and most important!) level!

We even need help on our various committees – Finance & Fundraising, Technology, PR, election year support, and more – all need help to make a real impact in 2016. We’ll be sending out info on all these committees next week, explaining what they do and how you can help!

Each only requires a small investment of your time that will have huge dividends for the party and our candidates!

3) Are there things around the office [when Chatham County Sets one up] I can do to help?

Absolutely! We will have a big need for volunteers working in our HQ when it is set up later in the year, and we will certainly need your help! 2016 is a critical election year and there is so much to do – let us know via our website, email us, and let us know you can help at the office!

4) When is the 2016 Republican Primary?

March 15th will be the Presidential Preference Primary AND the primary for all contested seats statewide/countywide. Email us if you have more questions.

For the record, Chatham County GOP does NOT endorse anyone in Republican party primaries! We will provide information on all the candidates for all the various offices and put links to their websites on our website, and you can us for more contact info.

4) When is the Chatham County Reagan Day Event in 2016 ?

The Reagan Day Dinner is on April 23, 2016. It is at the Governors Club this year. We have two great speakers for you so far, Senator Richard Burr will open the event, and Lt Governor Dan Forest will be our Keynote Speaker.

We have lots of options for you to join us and there are sponsorships available. Visit our website at: http://www.chathamncgop.com/2016_reagan_dinner to sign up. It is going to be a fantastic Event.

These were the most common questions we’ve heard the past few weeks.. If you have others just email us, visit our website: http://www.chathamncgop.com or visit Facebook and like us and leave a comment/question on our page: Chatham County Republican Party.

Your Chatham County GOP team meets each month and our next meeting is February 9th at the Roadhouse in Pittsboro @ 7PM. Come out and hear one of our speakers. We look forward to seeing you soon as we work towards victory in 2016!
