In our region, ticks will survive through the winter and mosquitoes will hatch any time the temperature gets a little warmer.  If you dog snuffles around a lot in large piles of leaves, he could disturb a tick and pick it up at any time of year and in almost any temperature. Ticks are much less active when temps are below 50 but, given an open invitation, they may attach to warmth at any time in any month or even weather.  That’s why it is important to continue your flea/tick protection year round in our area.
