Mark,In reference to your conservative allies in the county bemoaning that our Board of Commissioners is not listening to the majority of the county, I say that you must not be the majority of the county or your candidates would have won the election. Â The Board ran on issues of zoning the county and they won with that issue and are following through on their promises.. They held hearings around the county and have consulted experts to help with the decisions. Isn’t that what politicians are supposed to do?
As for the county growing too fast, most of us liberals agree with you.  We were against so many subdivisions being approved when the conservatives were in charge.  We thought Briar Chapel and Chatham Park were too big, too fast and not right for our agricultural county.  Where were the conservatives when we needed help with that?  You decry the large expense of building fees where a trailer pays the same price as a mansion.  I and other liberals agree with you.  That is why we fought hard for a Land Transfer tax to replace it, but we lost  The land transfer tax would have been based on the cost so a trailer home would pay less than a mansion.  Why were the conservatives not for this then?  It sounds like you should be voting with the liberals.
If you are so afraid they you think angry loonies are going to gun down the commissioners, then perhaps you should be for more gun control and better mental health support and Medicaid expansion so they can afford to get help.. Â If you hear people that you actually think may be going to do something it is your responsibility to report them to the sheriff so it can be investigated and guns removed if they are found to be mentally incompetent. Â Don’t sit silently if people are threatening others, speak up and tell them that isn’t the way to achieve anything. Â
Voting is a more reasonable response for anyone to get what they want. Â I can’t stand what the conservative legislature and governor are doing to our state. Â I will be voting against them and trying to persuade others to do the same. Â Violence is never a solution but voting gives you a chance for change.

Subject: one of my greatist fears
 With all of the things lately that politicians county wide are doing to be politically correct and kiss as many behinds as possible they aren’t looking at the big picture . There is a good number of us who see things from a certain point of view that definitely isn’t their point of view . Whether they are ignoring the facts or just feel untouchable or plainly living in ignorant bliss while pushing their agendas they were voted in to do the work of the vast majority of the people not the work of a minority who want to control everything .
I have heard some very angry people responding to things that the powers that be are trying to shove down our throats . This is far different than the things your normally hear in a heated election year . I’m hearing hate and deep displeasure to the point I fear some hillbilly bob may go postal and do something seriously ignorant at a board meeting or public event . I have heard ulgy angry comments county wide in my travels lately and its getting worse . I think its bad that 3/4s of the county feels that their elected officials aren’t listening to them but catering to the northeastern corners every wim and wish .
 I wouldn’t hurt anyone .. I will complain , disagree , and even throw a t total bitch fit over the things these commissioners are doing but I personally would never condone or encourage any violence towards anyone even though I may I think they have as much sense as the north end of a south bound mule . I don’t want to see anything happen that would put Chatham County on the national news where some irate hillbilly bob goes postal but I fear that is coming . There is a point that you cant push people past . There is a point that some people will just snap and I personally do not want to be no where near the damage path when they do . You cant make people feel like they are backward bigots over their faith . You cant over tax people who cant hardly pay taxes to start with and you cant continue to twist things and lie to do what you want to while in office . I agree that this county is going through growing pains but some are pushing things to far to fast for most folks to adjust .Â
There needs to be a slower more conservative approach to growth and the political powers that be need to listen and act accordingly to gain voter trust back . A man stated a great truth at Brewers Grocery this evening … He said that when we vote people in we vote in the lesser of all evils and hope they do a fourth of what they promise while in office where we once voted in people with morals and backbone to stand their ground and do what the voters that put them in office voted them in to do .  I rattle off a lot here but I listen a lot out in public and I don’t like what I’m hearing and it scares me . I for one wont go to a county board meeting or any other event where the commissioners will be anymore . I just don’t feel its safe to do so and it shouldn’t be that way but unfortunately it is .  Goodnite Mark” |
