Last year I wrote a post regarding Centruylink and problems with my DSL speed.  I also questioned Centurylink as to who owns the fiber optic that runs down Hwy. 64 in front of my property.  They saw my post and actually sent out a tech who got my DSL speed up to what I was paying for.  A supervisor also sent me an email and said they didn’t know who owned the fiber optic but would let me know.  They never did.

Last week I came home and there were 2 Centurylink vehicles at the end of my drive.  I stopped and asked them what they were doing and they said they were splicing the fiber optic cable.  I asked if I could get connected and they said “oh no, this just goes from point a to point b and it’s not for residential” .

I then mentioned that a family I know who lives not far from me, has spent a couple of months in the middle of nowhere in Kenya.  They get 100mb speed in Kenya but we can’t in Chatham County.  They had nothing to say about that.  The trucks also left my driveway in a mess.  We had just had the big rain.  I guess they plan on leaving it this way.
