Subject: Help us make Kennel Comforters for the Chatham Animal Shelter

I just contacted the Chatham Animal Shelter this morning, and the only thing they are desperately in need of at this time is bedding for both dogs and cats. Perfect timing! Join us Wed 3/23 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Chatham Habitat for Humanity in Pittsboro to help us make 18×12″ Kennel Comforters that will go directly to our local shelter, and fit in a travel crate or on top of their beds in their cages/kennel runs. They have a need for about 45 of them to start.

I made 5 up last night…3 for dogs and 2 for cats. Our family adopted two dogs there and it’s awesome that we can do something inexpensive and valued to give back. They are easy to make. I’ll teach you! There is no charge to join us. This is a FREE mini-workshop that I’m happy to teach the community’¦and if you already know how to sew, I’™m happy to hand you the directions and you can go to town at our workshop, or even at home!

If you’re joining us, bring your sewing machine, thread, and fabric scraps in the following sizes: one needs to be at least 18.5×12.5″ (backing), one 12.5×12.5″ (center front panel), and 4 strips 2.5×12.5″, plus batting that measures around 19×13″.

Please email me at if you are coming so I can make sure I have enough seating for all.
