Pittsboro Matters, busybodies, and nut cases give us Chatham Parks

I respect Dr. Dykers.  I thought about Dr. Dykers’ reaction to my statement, “but a county employee will reject common sense when possible.”  My statement was inaccurate and lacked specificity.  There are Chatham County employees who facilitate and obstruct.  I apologize to you Chatlisters and all those “common sense” county employees Dr. Dykers knows.

I Googled “common sense” and deeper reflection allows assignation of  “common sense” when county supervisors and other employees clearly understand and perform what is expected.  It IS common sense to watch out for oneself.  It is common sense to say NO when it might get one sued or bring unwanted attention to the county manager.  So it always makes common sense when county supervisors or other employees obstruct.  Depending on one’s perspective, one person’s common sense is another person’s idiocy.

I was wrong to interject county employees’  “common sense” into a post about Pittsboro Matters and Chatham Park.  It distracted from the overall message.

My point was, and is, along with ALL the other obstructions a Chatham citizen will encounter, county employees will gather rules and regulations from the state and federal bureaucracies and interpret those rules and regulations to make them even more crushing.  It takes a major investment group (e.g. Chatham Park developers) to stand up to all the obstructions and obstructionists.  (Including starkweathers, PittsboroMatters, free money grant seekers, and local nut cases.)  They are ALL making it tougher and tougher for the “little guy” to succeed.

Bad things still happen but then comes MORE rules and regulations so THAT bad thing does not happen again; except when it does.  (e.g. Coal ash disaster)  THEN penalties may be applied; except when appealed with high priced lawyers saying, “All laws, rules, and regulations were met as required and inspections passed.”  While you and I would be crushed.

PittsboroMatters, busybodies, and nut cases (“whitish haze” chemical trail disbursements, chromium, and DDT) give us Chatham Parks.
