The Chatham County Center of North Carolina Cooperative Extension offers a variety of classes on gardening, landscape care, food preservation, and agriculture related topics, as well as 4-H activities for youth, throughout the year. Classes planned for this fall include a pollinator garden workshop and garden tour (Sept. 23 & 26) and a class on minimizing the impact of deer in the landscape (Oct. 20 in the evening, repeated Oct. 21 in the morning – this class will mention fencing and repellents but the main emphasis will be on deer resistant plants adapted to our region).

Registration is currently open for the pollinator garden workshop and tour. Complete details are posted here: http://growingsmallfarms.ces.ncsu.edu/2015/08/register-now-for-september-pollinator-garden-workshop-garden-tour/

Registration for the deer workshop will open later this month. An announcement will be posted to the Chatlist when registration opens. In addition, upcoming events are posted on Chatham Extension’s webpage: http://chatham.ces.ncsu.edu/

Additional classes are planned for the winter and spring, including a 4-week series on organic and sustainable vegetable gardening, for which registration will open in January.
