Chatham County Senior Games Opening Ceremonies
PITTSBORO-The Chatham County Council on Aging invites the public to attend a kick-off celebration for Chatham’s 2015 Senior Games on April 17th at 12:30 pm at the Pittsboro Senior Center (365 Highway 87 N). The celebration, also known as the Opening Ceremonies, commemorates the start of the annual games which will be held April 17th through May 1st this year. Guests will enjoy special speaker Flora Moorman (Ms. North Carolina Senior America 2014), entertainment, Silver Arts, and a “Fun Walk” around Central Carolina Community College’s one mile trail.
The Council on Aging proudly hosts the games and arts competition each year which encourages our community’s seniors to keep their body, mind, and spirit fit while enjoying the company of friends, family, spectators, and volunteers. This year’s sponsors include Cambridge Hills Assistive Living, Carolina Meadows, Central Electric Membership Corporation, Chatham Hospital, Hall Wynne Funeral Service, The Laurels of Chatham, Liberty Homecare and Hospice, Piedmont Health Senior Care, Seniors Helping Seniors, and Papa John’s of Pittsboro.
Those interested in serving as event volunteers or who need to register as a participant should contact Lindsay Hickling, 919-542-4512, ext. 228 or . The registration deadline has been extended through April 6th. As Council on Aging Director Dennis Streets says, “It is not too late to join in this friendly competition. If I can do it, you can too. I look forward to seeing you.”
