Subject: County zoning? But you’re “grandfathered in”!

I remember when people had a business and worked until they were too old to work anymore. You might want to sell your business to someone and use the proceeds to fund your old age. Or simply give the business to your grandchild, or sell it to your nephew?

Well, slow down a minutes, Cowboy! When that business changes hands, the new owner must bring everything up to current codes. ALL the codes, and regulations, and permit requirements, and fees, and God knows what else.

If you’ve had a business on unzoned land, you have not had to pay taxes on commercial land or business use. You have not had to submit your ideas or plans to your neighbors for their permission to paint with a color of YOUR choice, or forced to install a sidewalk in a rural area. But you will!

The county commissioners believe they need to protect us from global warming, and faulty wells being drilled, and all the latest boogy men. Remember, we are too dumb to be self reliant.

This is the same county commission who passed a Resolution declaring they want new jobs and prosperity to go to Lee and Moore Counties. All their “Whereas this and Whereas that to pretend fear and trepidation of Doom and Gloom while North Dakota has ZERO unemployment!

If you have been struggling with unemployment, or under employment, or being cut down to part time employment, or working 2-3 jobs in this economy, you can feel better because the Chatham County commissioners want to find ways to get more tax revenue by zoning historically unzoned land. You will be “grandfathered in” but the next person will be hit in the face with the crushing reality of what this new zoning means. A lot of you who think you are “safe” will find out when you go to sell your property just how crushing it will be.

But don’t worry. The current democrat county commissioners will be long gone when the full impact hits you. They feel safe they can get out their votes no matter who has a D next to their name. But it better be a D . If you don’t like it, well, you can go back where you came from!
