Offered by the Chatham County Center of NC Cooperative Extension, this series of nine gardening classes is designed for anyone wishing to learn more about environmentally sustainable, science based gardening. Both beginning and experienced gardeners will benefit from the course by learning the skills and knowledge needed to create and maintain a healthy yard and landscape that can:
– Support a diverse range of plants and animals, including birds, pollinators, and people
– Enhance the appearance of your home and property
– Provide fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the year
– Protect water quality by minimizing the need for pesticides and fertilizers
– Make your yard a more enjoyable and sustainable place to live

All classes will be taught by Charlotte Glen, Chatham Extension horticulture agent, and will be held in the Chatham Extension Auditorium, located in the lower level of the Agriculture Building, 65 East Chatham St., Pittsboro.

The course will meet weekly from mid-March through May. Both a morning and an evening session of each class will be taught. The cost of the course is $50 per participant and includes class resources and refreshments. Couples who wish to share a set of resources can register for $75.
