Write For Magazines: Query Writing & Critique
This is an introduction to freelance journalism. Learn how to pitch editors, craft a query letter, and earn money writing. You will leave this class with three query letters of your own and markets so that you can actively start pitching articles right away. You will also take home a half dozen successful query letters that secured publication in national and local markets such as GO (AirTran Airways’ in-flight magazine), Blue Ridge Outdoors and The Chapel Hill News. Students invited to submit a query letter in advance and receive a critiqued copy at class. Seating is highly limited and advanced registration required.
