Contrary to popular rumor the coyotes were not brought in to control the deer population, nor were the deer brought in by the army corps, if you create the habitat they will come…
some in the science community think because of the cross breeding with wolves (and dogs)the normal dispersal pattern of the coyote has changed some, from one of family (annual dispersal of the one year olds so the breeding pair can have a new litter) to one of clan (related families banded together with a hierarchal system, alpha male etc) . Also don’t put away the possibility of “wild” dog packs, which are present in the county.
