Subject: Balance
Kathy Zinn has a great observation about the list. At times, ,the list does seem to have balance, and provides a wonderful forum for individuals to share “opinions†about various topics. However, sometimes the passion surrounding those opinions borders on the nasty. Responding or providing clarifying information can be done so in a way that furthers the conversation rather than becoming a personal attack about a specific poster.
As I have read the various debates about the changes happening in our town, it makes me think about how unique the Chatlist is. I only hope that it can continue to be a forum for healthy debate, a convenient way to learn about goings on in the area, and a place to link people. In an era of social media, this list is a little treasure in that it focuses just on our corner of the world.
So Kathy, I am with you, it is nice to have balance. I just hope others continue to use this forum in such a way that it fosters the notion of community, no matter how diverse the opinions of its residents.
