Subject: Meals on Wheels Seeks Volunteer Drivers

Chathamites! Help your local, home-bound senior community members by becoming a Meals on Wheels driver! There are four routes in Pittsboro, three in Siler City, and one each in Bennett,Gulf, and Goldston. Our most pressing need is for regular, weekly drivers in Siler City on Monday, Thursday, and Friday and for a weekly driver of the Gulf route on Friday. However, If you can’t commit weekly, substitute volunteer drivers are more than welcome!

This program is more than a meal- volunteers provide invaluable companionship and help seniors stay independent and in their own homes. Volunteering is not only good for the community at large- it also benefits you! It increases your life expectancy, reduces stress and risk of illness, and increases your life satisfaction. Come help us give back to our community by participating in this worthwhile and fulfilling effort!

This would also be a good opportunity to be shared among a church group, allowing members to alternate weeks and share the responsibility of taking their group’s particular route.

If interested, please call Megan Adkins, Volunteer Coordinator, at 919-542-4512 ext. 236 or by email at

Our application is also now available online! You can find it at http://www.chathamcouncilonaging.org/Volunteer

As always, we appreciate your support of Chatham’s senior citizens!
