Hey Everybody,

Put on your dancing shoes! Have fun while helping a worthy cause! The ZamBamBooGee band is sharing its proceeds from this coming Friday’s performance at the Bynum Front Porch to help repair Bertha the Bus, which was damaged and made inoperable by vandals and which is used by Haw River Canoe and Kayak Company to bring people to explore the beauty of the river. This is the last show of the year in the Bynum Front Porch Friday Music Series, so don’t miss it!

The event takes place rain or shine from 7 to 9 p.m. on August 29 at the old Bynum General Store, 950 Bynum Road, 27228. The website of the non-profit Bynum Front Porch suggests a pass-the-hat donation of $5 to $8 for these Friday night events, to support the music series and the performers. This time your donation supports “Bringing Bertha Back” as well, so any extra help is deeply appreciated. No one is turned away for lack of funds. This is an alcohol-free, family-friendly event. Please leave your pets at home. Feel free to bring your coolers. Vendor foods include Barney’s Famous Hot Dogs and Snacks, Little Dippers Italian Ice, cool drinks and tasty treats.

On May 30-31st this year there was a rash of vandalism at the State Park recreation area in Bynum by the Old Bynum Bridge. The community was saddened by this senseless act in an area where so many folks love to walk, tube, swim, kayak and canoe. Particularly sad was the damage done to Bertha the Bus, which was not covered by insurance. We invite our loving community to join us as we dance the night away and help out our neighbor and good friend. See you there!
