Cryptic is quite correct that the NC STEP grant was just for the old downtown of Siler City. A ‘revitalization’ grant.
Having lived through it, I thought it bordered on the hilarious that we built a ‘bypass’ for US 64 around Siler City and then the ‘town’ moved out to the ‘bypass’! The concept is to attract some of the Hwy 64 people back to the bypassed businesses in the old town!
I would have said ‘unexpectedly delightful’ so concur with your ‘non-sequitur’ characterization, but others think it ‘catchy’ and I agree with that, and it caught your attention.
Your post was over a week ago, so pardon my delay as technical difficulties have combined with a friend’s ill health to discombobulate my functioning.
