Update on my post yesterday about the llama massacre and response from animal control;

First, thank you for many responses of care and concern I received, and let me clarify that I am a neighbor of the owner of the llamas. I have passed on your thoughts and sympathy to the owner.

I will try to relay updated information, as I am not in the county today to see developments first hand; Animal Control did show today to obtain information and a picture of the dog taken by cell phone camera as well as the photos of the deceased llama. They immediately began a search of the surrounding area and homeowners with picture in hand to try to locate the dog. The dog and owner were located, a citation/warning had been served and they have been fined. The dog is not classified as “dangerous”. This issue now falls into a civil case.

The llama owner feels very satisfied with Animal control, specifically Ms Garrard and Officer Pepper, and he specifically requested on his behalf to “commend animal control for their efforts today”.

I hope I have communicated accurately to relay facts and alert others.
We thank our fellow chatlisters for your wonderful messages and support today, and of course Gene for helping us connect on all matters, large and small.

  1. Epic FAIL on the part of Animal Control. The dog came back and killed all but one of the remaining llamas. What a very sad a preventable outcome. My heart goes out to the surviving family.
