Chatham Strong candidate Karen Howard hating on poor people

I heard that the current County Strong PAC candidate for Chatham County commissioner make the statement that she “did not live in a low-income area” during a public hearing concerning a proposed cell tower going up in the Governors’ Village area.

This new cell tower is supposed to help improve cell phone reception in the vicinity including some lower income areas.

And this woman claims that she wants to represent ALL the people of Chatham County?

I guess well-to-do Karen Howard (good friend of Jeff Starkweather) thinks it’s ok to only erect cell towers in poor neighborhoods?

To ascertain how well off our friendly neighborhood liberal candidate, we can take a look at her address as listed in her public filing for office –

This is a 3376 square foot, single family home. It is located at 12025 Wicker Dr Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Lot: 0.28 acres
Single Family Built in 2007
Last sold: Aug 2007 for $495,500
Features a Fireplace and Parking: Garage – Attached

Estimated median house or condo value in 2009: $199,109 (it was $113,300 in 2000)
Chatham County:   $199,109
North Carolina: $155,500
Lower value quartile – upper value quartile: $109,315 – $355,114
(If my memory of college statistics is correct, this places Karen Howard in the UPPER percentile of the curve)

The fact that Chatham Coalition candidate Karen Howard wanted to make it clear that she “did not live in a low-income” tells you a lot about who Karen Howard really is.

Give her a call and see if she picks up at (919) 636-5799. As the Verizon commercial asks “Can you hear me? Can you hear me now?”

Unfortunately, no one is running against Karen Howard for office. It’s time to consider a write-in candidate.
