Farm at Penny Lane Summer Workday – July 12, Saturday

Volunteers are welcome

Six miles from the UNC Chapel Hill campus , nestled in Northern Chatham County, The Farm at Penny Lane (FPL), part of the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health sits on a 40- acre property in Pittsboro, N.C. The property is being developed as a respite with therapy programs and activities for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Activities in the farm include walking trails, art, music studio, gardening, bee culture, dog training, raising chickens,* *a green house, aquaponics and shitake mushroom production. Food from the garden is distributed to the community.*

When:**  July 12, 2014*
Time:**  9:00 AM to 12:00 PM*
What to bring:**  Shovels, hoes, mattocks, gloves *
Who can volunteer**?**  Everyone is welcome.  (Kids must be supervised by a parent or guardian.)*
Attire:**  Dress appropriately.  It will be hot.  (We will be working rain or shine  as long as no thunderstorms are reported in the area).*
