Subject: Upcoming Activities at Chatham County Parks and Recreation
The Haw River Summer Adventure Camp registration opens July 1st this camp will be held the week of July 21st through July 25th, 2014. The cost is $250 per week, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Campers will meet at the Hwy 15-501 N parking lot next to Haw River.
This is a Full Day Adventure Camp through the Haw River Canoe and Kayak Company. This camp focuses on developing paddling skills in canoes and kayaks. Campers will be taught paddling techniques, safety and river navigation, as well as river education regarding the history of the river and how to keep it healthy.
There will be different activities such as hiking different trails along the Haw River, outdoor living skills, orienteering, plant and tree identification, leadership and teamwork. Camp is open to youth ages 10 to 15, availability is limited to 14 campers per group. Campers will be grouped by skill level and/or age.
