Poverty Awareness Day Free Workshops – Register Now

Circles® Chatham invites you to an experiential Poverty Awareness Day on July 26, consisting of two free workshops:

Perspectives on Poverty, where you’ll participate in a lively, interactive group conversation and learn about the scope and challenges of poverty in Chatham County, plus how individuals and organizations can work together to help people become self-sufficient.  Although a separate workshop, this is an excellent lead-in to the second workshop:

Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE), is a simulation which provides a glimpse into the lives of those living near or below the poverty line in our community.  It offers insight into the obstacles that are faced, the decisions that are made, and the consequences that impact these families every day.

The workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, July 26, at Pittsboro United Methodist Church, 71 West St., in downtown Pittsboro..  Bring a friend.  This is an excellent community activity for groups such as scouts, social groups, church groups, etc.  There is a maximum of 50 participants for this popular simulation, so early registration is highly recommended. To register, or to volunteer to help with the poverty simulation, visit www.circleschatham.org or call 919-933-9440.
