Subject: Which Democrats I’ll vote for who will serve Chatham

Hi, all, for the Democrats on the chatlist, I thought I’d tell you my favorites in the primary, and early voting starts April 24.  These are the ones specifically elected by us in Chatham to serve Chatham. This is a very important primary for Democrats. Please vote on May 6, or during early voting.

For NC House district 54, Chatham and part of Lee, I support Robert Reives II.  He was appointed to this position early this year, and he also is strong on all our Democratic values.  Remember the Moral Mondays?  He’s a supporter of all those good things like unemployment benefits, etc., that we’ve been losing lately because of our Republican-dominated legislature.  He also is strong against fracking and wants to correct big environmental problems like those coal ash spills.

For Chatham County Commissioner, I support Diana Hales, who will be taking the place of Sally Kost, who left with 2 years of her place on the BOC still to go.  I know Norman, and he’s a fine man, but I want someone who will fight against fracking, and Diana has been to nearly all the meetings of the Mining and Energy Commission, sharing her notes and also to BOC meetings, again, sharing her notes.  She knows what she’s doing and has worked for the state government.

For Sheriff, I support Richard Webster.  He has been an excellent, fair-minded sheriff, with lots of reforms for criminal investigation and community relations.  I believe he was first elected in 2002.  We couldn’t have a better sheriff, in my opinion.  Let’s keep him.

Obviously there will be people who see it differently.  But here’s where I stand and why.  Judy Hogan, Moncure.
