Wondering if Pittsboro has enough traffic to support all the pet supply outlets already existing and planned

I’m back from vacation and catching up on a couple of weeks of Chatlists. One of the things I am wondering is if PBO has enough traffic to support all the pet supply outlets already existing and planned.

I know there is a plethora of veterinarians in town, a couple of feed stores, and pet supplies available in all the grocery stores, and WalMart. Now in the last two months I’ve heard about a 4000+ sq ft pet supply being planned, and someone else planning a pet/fish store (I’m assuming that is tropical fish, not dinner!).. Maybe I’m blind to it but is there enough pet business to keep all this going?

After watching a very nice equestrian shop come and go in the downtown PBO strip, I wonder what kind of market research supports these plans (or are they hoping for Chatham Park to come to fruition?).

Just curious… I’m not entrepreneurial in the least and am amazed when someone lays their nest egg on the line to start a new business. Is there local govt planning support for these efforts, or is it as big a dice roll as it appears?
