Elza Appointed to Chatham County Board of Commissioners
PITTSBORO- At its meeting on March 17, 2014, the Board of Commissioners unanimously appointed Jim Elza to fill the vacancy for Commissioner District 1 created by the recent resignation of Sally Kost.
Elza will serve as a county commissioner until the November General Election, when voters will determine who completes the remaining two years of the term.
“I am thankful for this opportunity to further serve the residents of Chatham County and provide input on important issues facing us,” Elza said.
Elza had served on the Chatham County Planning Board since 2009 and had to resign to accept the appointment to the Board of Commissioners.
Before retirement, Elza had been the Director of Planning for Polk County, Iowa and Director of Planning and Development for Guilford County, NC.
