Hi, I’d like to post two posts on behalf of the Council on Aging.
The first:
” ‘FREE Income Tax Assistance!’
It’s that time of year again- tax season- and the VITA program is here to help! If you are a senior or have a low to moderate income you may qualify to have your taxes prepared for FREE with this helpful service.
Please contact Megan Adkins or Brett Moraes at the Council on Aging, (919) 542-4512, to make an appointment.

” ‘Support Your Local Seniors!’
Chatham County’s Council on Aging is looking for new volunteers! Help us enrich the lives of our senior community members by:
-Leading or participating in committees and support groups
-Delivering nutritious meals while providing companionship to our Meals on Wheels program clients
-Supporting our meal site and kitchen staff by preparing and serving meals for congregate lunch and Meals on Wheels
-Counseling seniors about Medicare benefits and health insurance with our SHIIP program
-Helping with our *FUN*draising events
-Offering or supporting tax preparation services in conjunction with the VITA Program
-Providing clerical support to staff
-Being on the Board of Directors
-Or helping get two new programs off the ground: Friendly Phone calls- where volunteers call a home-bound senior, or E-reader instruction- where volunteers provide Nook or Kindle tutorials to seniors
