Subject: CAN-TR ‘No Limits’ Horse Show April 20

Please support our ‘No Limits’ Horse Show on Saturday April 20, 2013 at the Silk Hope Farm Heritage Park arena. We are a non-profit program that focuses on putting people with special needs on horses.  We offer equine
assisted activities and therapy (EAAT) to people with special needs ages 2 and up here in Chatham County.

Last fall we worked hard to get the children and horses prepared to ride in a horse show at the Silk Hope arena. We trailered 5 horses and arranged for 15 volunteers to help with five of our younger clients to participate in the lead line class at the horse show. The lead line class lasted about 5 minutes with the children riding about ¼ of a lap around the arena before the judge called everyone to the middle to collect their ribbons. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed.  So Rachel Jackson and the rest of the staff and volunteers at CAN-TR are organizing the ‘No Limits’ Horse Show.

Our horse show will be open to any rider and their horse that want to participate in any class with no limits. If that rider needs a horse handler and two sidewalkers and adaptive equipment fine! If that rider is an independent rider and just wants to come and compete and gain valuable experience for them and their horse at a horse show terrific! Each rider is expected to gather sponsors and sponsorship money. All proceeds will go to the CAN-TR general fund to assist with program expenses.

It is about what we CAN do! So many of our riders and their families hear about what they CANNOT do. Please help make this horse show a reality for our riders as well as for others in our community.

Also, we have met with Heads Up staff and are doing our best to offer services to any of their riders.  We do have a class of their students coming on Weds at 9:30a. That was their time slot at Heads Up so we are trying to do the same so there will be no lapse in services. If you have the time, please come and help for an hour! No horse experience necessary!
